1. Thanks for the information in this article, I always appreciate the great tips that I find on this website. I have found that it is really hard sometimes to stay focused on posture and I know when I find myself slouching my back tends to hurt more. I normally try setting up straight or standing and that seems to help so that verifies the bad posture with back pain. What I did not realize is the food we eat has so much to do with our posture it does make since, without the calcium to keep our bones strong it would definitely affect our posture.

      Being aware of our posture is not easy because we are often engaged in activities that make us hunch over or twist our bodies in awkward positions at work or home. For example, most people to alleviate pressure should stand on a rubber mat or rug while cooking; however, they don’t. Also it would help if they didn’t hunch over counter tops when they cooked. The diet and posture connection is another thing that the average person is not aware off. I hope the information in this post helps. Thanks for checking in.

  3. This article is so timely. Lately, I have noticed that my posture has not been so good. I would catch myself, seated somewhere, and suddenly notice that my poster was not good. I used to have great posture. But lately not so good. And I was wondering why?

    Stop sleeping on your stomach. The most comfortable positions usually aren’t beneficial for spinal health. Sleeping on your stomach offers no support to the back and the pull of gravity causes the spine to bow. I stopped sleeping on my stomach years ago and started sleeping on my back. It took some adjusting but I did it. I’m so much healthier now. So one lifestyle fix might be switching sleeping positions and start sleeping on your back and avoid sleeping on your stomach.

    I have a standing desk and that has helped me. I’m not saying everyone needs to go out and get a standing desk.The important thing is to take a break from sitting at least every hour if your job keeps you at a desk. Set a timer to stand and walk around the room every 45 minutes to give your body and mind a quick refresh.

    Pilates is phenomenal at helping correct faulty posture. You will work on your core, back, flexibility, strength and balance all in one workout. So one thing I would suggest that you do to fix your posture is join a pilates class.

    Very informative article. I look forward to the rest of your series on seven posture mistakes. Here is my two cents. Good posture should follow you everywhere. If you go grocery shopping, never lean on the cart. Instead stand vertical and walk vertical pushing the cart with your hands slightly out in front, not with your chest or big stomach.

      Your wise words are worth more than two cents. They could in fact save someone a lot of money that they would not have to spend fixing not only posture but a bad back.     Sure, just start swimming. Swimming is one of the best activities to improve your posture and correct your spine problems, and it has one important benefit: it does not impact your joints, so if you suffer from an injury, it is important to improve your posture. is a great way to stay active without pain. The summer is here. I can’t think of a better way to both have fun and fix your posture than spending time in the pool.
