In short, Delayed -onset muscle soreness (DOMS) is common for anyone who makes the transition from little-to-intense exercise. DOMS is associated with an initial soreness starting within 3-24 h of heavy exercise, and can range from slight muscle tenderness and stiffness to debilitating pain. It may continue for 8-10 days post exercise 
The two promising treatments for DOMS are heat and CBD Oil. With this in mind, I’ll examine both and show why CBD oil may be best for building resiliency. Let’s jump in.

How Trainers use Heat to Prevent Muscle Soreness
Many trainers use the following as a standard treatment for strenuous exercise—head banging aside: they apply cold for brief periods during the first 24 hours, followed by heat for 14 hours post exercise to reduce soreness and promote healing. However, “several recent studies in large trials have found that while heat can significantly reduce pain, no such conclusions can be drawn about the use of cold.
How Long for Heat To Work On Sore Muscles
Assuming that you have no headbanger buddy who can get you some super hot—face turn red— food, this is how heat is usually applied to sore muscles. According to most studies, heat applied for 8 hours immediately after strenuous exercise reduced muscles soreness at 24—and 48 Hour post exercise, and the heat applied both immediately and at 24 -hour post exercise reduced pain even further.
Once more, heat applied immediately after strenuous exercise appears to both reduce pain and increase the speed of healing of damaged muscle tissue. In short, heat therapy can relax and soothe muscles and heal damaged tissue.
When Not to Use
There are certain cases where heat therapy should not be used. If the area in question is either bruised or swollen (or both), it may be better to use cold therapy. Heat therapy also shouldn’t be applied to an area with an open wound.
People with certain pre-existing conditions should not use heat therapy due to higher risk of burns or complications due to heat application. These conditions include:
•deep vein thrombosis
•multiple sclerosis (MS)
The Truth about the Use of CBD for Recovery
Every time we do a physical activity, our body breaks itself down in order to build itself back up. This results in our body’s immune response to heal itself leaving us feeling sore. I can attest to that fact. As I said in an earlier post I ran track in high school. As part of the training the coach would make us “run them hills”. The first time I took one of the monster hills, I was left in tremendous pain.
According to U.S. News & World Report, CBD can be an effective way to relieve the inflammation and pain caused by exercise. Unlike using heat therapy, there is no issue of infection being spread to the blood stream.
CBD Oil Has The Added Benefit of Fighting Diabetes
By reducing insulin resistance and increasing insulin sensitivity, CBD was found in two separate research studies to reduce the initiation of diabetes and the development of latent diabetes in diabetes prone subjects. “The super cool thing about this, is that this result was also accompanied by a shift from a pro-inflammatory cytokine response to an anti-inflammatory response.”
