If you have followed my website you know that I have written on how CBD might be able to help people quit opioids. It’s natural than to ask can CBD help you quit smoking cigarettes? There are of course many reasons why people will want to kick this nasty habit. Smoking cigarettes has been compared to “downloading Cancer” into your body. A Smoker’s mouth has been compared to exhaust pipes of cars. Smoking is also responsible for people having bad bones. Bad bones often mean a bad back.
Tips From Smokers Make a Majority of People Want to Quit
In March 2012, the The Center For Disease Control (CDC) launched “Tips from Former Smokers,” a $54 million national campaign in which Americans shared personal stories of the consequences of smoking. An interesting thing was the reaction of people who tweeted about the commercials. “Approximately 87% (167,867) of the Tips-relevant tweets were classified as message acceptance, 7% (14,281) as message rejection, and 6% (11,521) as message disregard.” 
Furthermore, 94% of those who tweeted saw smoking cigarettes as a threat to their health. So, it would seem that these people would be open to finding out how CBD helps you quit smoking cigarettes.

Well, we have taken care of the social proof that most people who are smoking want to quit. Now let’s look at the question as to whether CBD can help you quit smoking cigarettes. A study published in 2013 in the journal Addictive Behaviors supports this idea.
A group of 24 smokers received inhalers with either CBD or a placebo substance and were encouraged to use those inhalers for a week whenever they felt the urge to smoke. Those with the placebo inhaler did not reduce their cigarette consumption at all during that week, but those with the CBD inhaler reduced theirs by about 40%.  Thus, they learned how CBD helps you quit smoking cigarettes.

There is evidence that CBD can help with addiction because of its relationship with the reward system. “When you do a drug like cocaine, Alcohol, or cigarettes, they create a massive response in your reward system. Your brain thinks that this chemical substances is the most fantastic thing in the world and it needs it. Your brain is confused and thinks that without this substance, you won’t survive. So much that it is always reminding you of how much you need it through cravings.”
CBD has helped people quit their cigarette smoking habit by decreasing the strength of your cravings. So, when you do smoke instead of you body saying “we are having a party” and Dancing on The Ceiling with Lionel Richie it may feel more mellow—like when Peggy Lee asked “Is That All There Is?”
How CBD Manages Inducing Cues and helps You quit Smoking Cigarettes
Inducing cues are another way of referring to things that urge you to smoke. For example, wanting to smoke after dinner because you have always smoked after dinner. By making you less anxious, CBD enables you to overcome those inducing cues. let’s go deeper into making you understand what the hell inducing cues are in relation to smoking.
Measuring Visual exposure to Smoking Behaviors
In a study of smoking behaviors, smoking was observed for different times and days of the week at 14 outdoor areas of bars/cafés throughout downtown Wellington, New Zealand. The researchers used these data to extrapolate to other bars/cafés with outdoor seating. In broad terms this is what they found:
The normality of smoking can reduce the likelihood of quit attempts and successful quitting. “Social ambience, including smoking visibility, may influence smoking relapse, particularly at bars and cafés .
How exposure to smoking at bars/cafés for all public outdoor spaces Results in Inducing Cues
These are some interesting findings to enhance our understanding of inducing cues that can make an ex smoker relapse:
The relatively flat topography of downtown Wellington— narrow streets and limited parking meant that foot traffic was the most common source of transportation and this increased the potential for visual exposure to smoking in the downtown area.
This means that former smokers walking down long narrow streets with lots of other people saw other smokers and most likely felt the urge to smoke. This is where CBD buy fighting anxiety can be very helpful in allowing that former smoke to walk that long street of smokers and not take a puff.
Let’s look at Another Inducing Cue
Streets with high levels of retail shops and hospitality areas had high values of estimated visible smokers, particularly in the evening where numbers were consistently above 50. 
This makes a lot of sense, doesn’t it? Where there’s a lot of retail shops and hospitality areas means there’s also a lot of socializing going on. All that buying, eating, small chat, and good times can easily be inducing cues that makes one once again reach for a cigarette. However, CBD has shown that it can regulate those urges to want to reward yourself and just keep you relaxed.
There’s a clever ad you might have caught about people fighting cigarette addiction. “The advert uses the words and music of Gloria Gaynor’s much loved song ‘I Will Survive,’ which mirrors the feelings and stages many quitters go through on their journey to being free of cigarettes and is a celebration of being free from an unhealthy relationship.”
