How Bloggers Can Stay Healthy Despite Sitting For Hours

If уоu’rе a blogger who spends all dау at a dеѕk and computer (which I’m guessing аррliеѕ tо a majority оf the Nеrd Fitness Rebellion), you know exactly what I’m talking about.

Whether it’ѕ lower bасk раin, wrist раin, a really tight nесk, оr a lасk оf mobility, when wе spend аll dау аt a desk tо рау the billѕ, our bodies оftеn get stuck рiсking up the tаb.

A doctor friend of mine has done ѕоmе сrаzу thingѕ like exercise around the world. Still,  mоѕt of her time iѕ spent sitting аt a desk for 10+ hours a dау, connecting with readers, writing articles,  and  “watching stupid саt vidеоѕ оn YouTube”.

At times you may look at some successful people, and see them as perfect, being lucky and more gifted and hope you could trade places with them. On the other hand, these people also look at you and think of you as someone who is free, without many problems. You feel insecure of people and they likewise feel the same thing of you. At that moment, what you are experiencing is lack of self-confidence and low self-esteem.

Self Esteem can be described as a mental state that depends on a person’s personal assessment of his or her worth. The concept deals with an individuals’ perception on whether or not they are worthy of praise or merit. In short, your self-esteem describes the measure with which you like yourself.

Low self esteem is a phrase we usually used to describe individuals who fails to think highly of themselves. People with low self-esteem possess a low assessment of their own self-worth. They never feel good regarding who they are and what they are. This has the possibility to create any number of problems for the person that is experiencing the condition. In a simple way, low self-esteem can as well be described as “feeling down about yourself.”

GENERAL INDICATORS OF LOW-SELF ESTEEM

  • Depending too heavily on others for directions and decisions
  • Hiding from problems using alcohol, drugs and procrastination
  • Unnecessary shyness, low assertiveness’ skills
  • Unnecessary self-consciousness, self doubt, inferiority complex
  • Regular unconstructive self-talk.
  • Hiding from risks and challenges in life, fear of disappointment
  • Regularly feeling besieged by regular stresses of life
  • Feeling physically inferior to others through fitness, appearance, strength and height etc
  • Overcompensation, acting like you are better than others
  • Lack of inspiration to act as a result of low faith in one’s ability to confront problems

This post was hard for me to write because I can’t imagine how I’d feel not having control of my body. You see, I am a caregiver for a mother who suffers from chronic back pain. So, I have made it my mission to understand the consequences of not having your body do what you want. Thus, if I can shed light on how to treat muscle spasms in the back, I’m going for it.

What are Muscle Spasms?

First, let’s define Spasms as involuntary contractions of the muscles that occur all of a sudden.  Spasms more often effect the muscles that are located in the upper back and lower back region. How long can an episode of muscle spasm in the back last? It can be as short as a few seconds or a lot longer. Here is the part that gets to me. Back pain can continue even after the spasm is gone. Why? Well, as soon as the muscles get contracted, blood flow in the damaged part of the muscles increase and causes inflammation. Hence, you continue to experience pain as long as there is swelling.

Causes оf Bасk Muscle Spasms

If you strain your muscles by working out like a fiend, you may get muscle spasms once in a while. In terms of longer duration, some of the underlying causes that trigger muscle spasms are as follows:

  • Automobile accidents or contact sports activities that result in traumatic injury to the muscles.
  • Poor posture. This is something that everyone should be aware of. Poor posture for long periods tends to cause fatigue in the muscles causing contraction.
  • Weakness in core abdominal muscles
  • Herniated disk that irritates the nearby nerve often causes spasms on one side of the back
